Hello, this is Joseph (Joey) Debity, Principal and 6th-8th grade math teacher at Coker Creek Elementary. I am a Coker Creek native and proud graduate of Coker Creek Elementary class of 1991. I am a diehard Tennessee Volunteer fan and was lucky enough to attend the University of Tennessee Knoxville and was a student during the 1998 National Championship year. I received my bachelor’s degree from the UTK and went on to Tennessee Technological University to earn my master’s degree in instructional leadership as an eagle. I am starting my 6th year as the principal at Coker Creek Elementary and am very proud to call this my school. I wholeheartedly believe our students receive a well-rounded education in a family type atmosphere that values the whole child. Although, I have always realized the importance of education and teaching in general the true significance became abundantly clear to me when I became a father. I have two wonderful sons age 15 and 4 years old. (Yes, I have a child in High School and one in Pre-K.) Knowing how important it is to me for my children to receive a quality education in a loving environment, I strive to make sure that every student that comes to Coker Creek Elementary receives the same quality of education and treatment that I want for my own children and believe we are meeting that goal. I have a wonderful wife, Marina, who is also an educator and is working to become a school psychologist.
